The landscape in Kurdistan

The landscape in Kurdistan is mostly mountainous. In the northeast is the Zāgros Mountains, with the highest mountain Cheekha Dar (3,611 m) of Iraq (South Kurdistan). The rivers mostly flow from north to south and partly from east to west. The main rivers are the Great Zab and the Little Zab. The Great Zab rises in (North Kurdistan) southeastern Turkey, the Little Zab in (West Kurdistan) northwestern Iran. Both rivers flow into the Tigris.
